Free Tax Preparation
FOR: Low-income and elderly (ages 65 and up) can have their taxes prepared free of charge. See below for specific qualifications. Other exceptions may be turned away on-site.
FROM: A team of volunteers are available for tax preparation. Most of the volunteers are data entry but April Schnardthorst is a paid tax preparer that owns her own business and has been doing taxes for over 10 years. She finalizes all returns and electronically files them. Contact April.
What
Your Federal and State tax returns are prepared on the spot and you leave with copies for your records. All returns are electronically filed for your convenience. Make sure you bring your driver's license (and that of your spouse), birth certificate copies for all dependents, and your tax documents. For a more detailed checklist, download our Questionnaire.
When
This service is offered every Sunday between February 20th and March 27th. The preparation begins at 1:00 pm and we will stop taking new clients at 3:00pm. The service is first-come, first-serve and a sign-up sheet is not available before 12:30 pm.
Where
You can find the Free Tax Preparation services in room B213/214. Please DO NOT go inside, but stop at the table outside the rooms to sign up. You will be called in when it is your turn. If the sign-up table is not out yet, then it is too early to sign in.
